Hello to you who reads these...we had such a great day today! I have already posted some on the Cathedral and the climb up both the Arc du Triumph and the Eiffel Tower thought now to share our day with you. We decided to have our breakfast at the hotel breakfast room...it was very nice the croissant was scrumptious indeed...and they had a bowl of fresh fruit all cut up and in juice, coffee very good have not had a bad cup of French Coffee yet...bacon and scrambled eggs gave us the boost we would need for the day. We caught the hop on hop off bus and first stop Notre-Dame Cathedral ...very very beautiful....so many people going through. There was a group of young singers performing for the crowds...lovely voices in perfect harmonies ! We spent some time looking at everything the stained glass wow! From there we went to a cafe for coffee sat a a table on the street very nicely sheltered from the wind where we sat. We walked through the park behind the church and it had loads of young people from a nearby school playing on the play equipment there was this Merry Go Round that I am sure would be banned in Canada because it was deemed dangerous ...well these kids were having the time of there lives taking turns pushed and wildly riding it...falling off, falling under it and just squealing in delight....from there we caught the bus again and off we went off to the Arc du Triumph it was quite funny there were two young men at the entrance who were trying in a nice way to ask us if we could make it up the "280" steps Madame Ha! They obviously did not know me or Rod ....we made it up quite quickly there were many young people that stopped to catch there breath more then we did ...the view was wonderful from the top...from there we stopped for our very expensive lunch at a restaurant on the champs- Ellesse not sure if I spelled this correct ...very expensive stores along the street...well we got into a chat with the waiter nice man...and decided to heck it was a holiday lets spurge ...the wine was ridiculously expensive at €19 for a half glass ...the whole meal was €98 ...ah well ! We walked the streets for a bit after lunch and stopped in a couple of interesting shops...lots of tourists roaming the streets so many different dialects ....we were on our way back to catch the bus to Eiffel Tower when we heard the sirens police vans, cars, and motorcycles with the police in full protective gear..they filled one full block ...not sure but it was I think a bomb scare of some kind...a bit scary. Onwards to the Eiffel Tower yup we did it 694 steps plus it was a long way let me tell you...and I admit I had to stop quite a few times Ha! We walk from the tower to our apartment and are always bombarded with people trying to sell us mini towers...and get us to bet on the set up games of chance...do they think we are fools lol! I gave money twice since we have arrived here once to a man playing guitar and singing and today to the man with the rabbits...his rabbits were so tame and well looked after....we had a bit of a visit with him ...he was from Romania. On to our hotel here we are safely back ...getting rested up for tomorrow.

Maxine says...oh I loved Paris, all the lovely churches, the food, have you noticed the plaques on the old walls in memorium for the young frenchmen killed in the freeing of the city from the natzis. So many of the photos look familiar and bring back wonderful memories. You might like the Rodin museum if the weather is good. The scultures are outside in a park, wonderful.
